CHispA presents: Masquerade Ball “A Black and Gold Affair” Saturday, November 16, 2013

The Carolina Hispanic Association is proud to present our annual benefit ball. The proceeds will go towards Scholars Latino Initiative specifically for the use of scholarships for minority students to help them attend college.

This event will take place in the Global Education Center at UNC on November 16, 2013 from 7:00 pm-10:00 pm.

Black and gold masks will be provided with the purchase of a ticket.

Attire is semi-formal, dress to impress!

Tickets will go on sale at the pit starting November 1st and in the CLC which is located in Craige North. Tickets for members are $7 and for non members $10.

Everyone come out and have a great time with CHispA!

22nd Annual Noche Latina: Sabado CHispante!

The Carolina Hispanic Association invites you to our 22nd Annual Cultural Showcase Noche Latina: Sabado CHispante!

This years theme is “Sabado CHispante” in honor of the variety show Sabado Gigante that has been running on tv for more than 50+ years.

Don Francisco, La Cuatro, El Leon, and of course El Chacal will all be in attendance ready to give you a heart warming, funny, and cultural experience as usual.

Interested in learning about immigrant issues from a variety of perspectives? Join the Campus Y, The Carolina Latina/o Collaborative, SUIE, CHispA, and LINC for our first segment of our Hispanic Heritage Month Social Justice Series. Immigration 101 will be held in the Anne Queen Lounge at the Campus Y at 6:30pm on September 24th, and will feature panelists including Professor Deborah Weissman from the UNC School of Law, Marty Rosenbluth from El Centro Hispano, and Moises Serrano, an undocumented student. We will also be discussing how you can be an ally for an undocumented student. Bring a friend, and questions for our panelists! Light refreshments will be served.

Take advantage of the chance to make new friends while creating cross-campus connections. Join the Carolina Hispanic Association for our annual Carnaval event to celebrate the culmination of UNC’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. Carnaval will be held in the Student and Academic Services Buildings (SASB) Plaza from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday, September 13th and will feature free food, games, music, dancing, performances and more! Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate Hispanic culture, hang out with your friends and meet new people!
